Rate the night, not the discography
A 2-star gig can still be your favourite band. Sound, crowd, set, and whether you wanted to leave at the encore are the night. The records live on Spotify.
Radar lets you rate after you log. Do it within 24 hours or you will inflate everything.
A scale you can reuse
1: you left. 2: fine, would not repeat. 3: good Tuesday. 4: you talk about it this week. 5: you will still talk about it in five years.
Most nights should be 3s. If your average is 4.8, you are not rating, you are collecting stamps.
Notes beat the number
One sentence — “snare too loud”, “best crowd of the year”, “surprise cover” — is what you will read later. The star is just a sort key.
Friends’ ratings on the same gig are interesting only if you all used the same honesty. Compare stories, not decimals.
