Highlights expire. Gigs should not
An Instagram highlight called “gigs” feels like an archive until you need the venue. Stories disappear. Saves lose context. The caption “last night” is not a date.
A gig diary stores artist, venue, city, and date as fields. Photos can sit on that gig. The post, if you make one, points at the record. It is not the record.
What social apps are good at
They are good at the week of the show: tagging friends, a short clip, a poster. Use them for that. Then log the night so the clip is optional.
Radar’s share cards and Wrapped are for when you want a single frame. The diary underneath still has every other show you did not post.
Move the old highlights once
Scroll the highlight, write down artist and a rough month, and match it to a listing. Ten saved posts become ten gigs. You do not need to repost them.
After that, log first and post second. The order is what stops the next highlight becoming another pile.
